  • The adaptive reuse of Mill No. 8, more recently known as White Mill, and now known as Dan River Falls: approximately 550,000 square feet
  • The preservation of interior and exterior historic features
  • 150 multi-family apartments: 118 at market rate and 32 reserved for those earning no more than 80% of the area median income
  • Indoor and outdoor community spaces
  • 219 interior parking spaces, in addition to surface parking
  • 147,000 square feet of commercial space
  • A new 7-acre riverfront park surrounding the site, to be enjoyed by all
Who are the rehabilitation project partners?
Can I tour the building or walk the site?

In that the building is an active construction site at this time public tours are not available.

What is the project timeline?

Construction commenced in December 2022 and is expected to come to completion in the fourth quarter of 2024.

A grand re-opening celebration is planned to occur in early 2025 and all will be welcome to join.

When can I apply for an apartment?

The application process will open in July 2024. Scroll down to join our e-mail list and receive leasing updates. 

What type of apartments will be available?

Dan River Falls will offer two types of apartments: workforce apartments for those who earn less than 80% of the median income levels, and market rate apartments. Learn more here.

What will be included in apartment rent?

Every apartment receives complimentary internet, a private storage unit, water, and sewer.

Two- and three-bedroom apartment homes also receive one complimentary interior garage parking space.

Every resident is required to have renter’s insurance.

Will condos be available for purchase?

Dan River Falls will only be providing apartments for rent, rather than condominiums for purchase.

Is there a second phase?

Yes, a second phase of work is planned to commence in the fourth quarter of 2024. This next component will bring approximately 40 additional apartments as well as additional amenity spaces.
